Liza Soberano Confirms Breakup with Enrique Gil: “We Weren’t a Match Anymore”

After years of speculation, Liza Soberano has finally spoken publicly about the end of her relationship with long-time on-screen and real-life partner, Enrique Gil. In an emotional conversation on filmmaker Sarah Bahbah’s Can I Come In? podcast, the 27-year-old actress revealed that she and Gil quietly ended their romance nearly three years ago.

“We weren’t a match anymore,” Liza said candidly. “It wasn’t because we didn’t care about each other. It was just that the relationship had run its course.”

The actress, who rose to fame alongside Gil as part of the beloved “LizQuen” tandem, explained that they initially kept the breakup private out of mutual respect. Enrique had asked for discretion, and Liza admitted she wasn’t ready to make it public either.

“I didn’t want it to be real,” she shared. “We had dreams of getting married. I genuinely thought that’s where we were heading. But along the way, I realized we were no longer aligned.”

Despite the separation, Liza described it as a “beautiful breakup”—one without drama, bitterness, or scandal. The two remain on respectful terms, a rarity in the often public and messy world of celebrity relationships.

Recently, fans noticed subtle signs of the split, including Enrique quietly removing an “I love you” comment from Liza’s TikTok post. The gesture fueled online speculation, but both have chosen to handle the matter with grace and minimal fanfare.

For their legions of supporters, the news marks the official close of a chapter that began in 2014, when LizQuen first captured hearts through teleseryes and films. While the love story has ended, both stars are now focused on their individual paths—Liza with her Hollywood projects and Enrique with his business ventures and acting commitments.

As for whether a romantic reunion is possible, Liza didn’t offer false hope. What she did leave fans with, however, was a message about growth, self-awareness, and the courage to walk away when love changes.

“Sometimes, you have to let go of something beautiful to make space for what’s next,” she said.
