Same Old Play, Same Old Players

Politics in the Philippines today is like watching a drama where the plot twists make no sense—because no one is truly on the side they claim to be. Everyone parades themselves as clean, but scratch the surface and the stench tells another story. Some leaders pretend to sweep the streets of corruption, yet inside their offices—and even their own families—the rot is deep.

One chamber of power beats its chest in the name of justice, pushing to impeach the Vice President. But do they have the moral ascendancy? Granted, none. Still, corrupt high officials must be held accountable. The other chamber appears to shield her—yet for what?

Meanwhile, billions meant for flood control have evaporated into the pockets of moneymaking clowns. And the few voices we trust—Kiko, Bam, Risa, Leni, Trillanes, Leila de Lima—know what they’re fighting for, but not how to fight together.

What has become of our country? We are ruled by the same actors in an old, tired play. Some faces are new, but the script hasn’t changed. Unless we rewrite the cast list and change the players, we are marching toward our own political doomsday.
